Formed in 1836, DeSoto County, was named after the first European explorer to see the Mississippi River, Hernando DeSoto. If you enjoy shopping, you will love Southaven Towne Center, Southaven Commons, and Tanger Outlets.  If sports is your thing, you will love the Snowden Grove Baseball Complex, Greenbrook Softball Complex, golf course, and disc golf course included in our twenty neighborhood parks with more than 200 acres of land.  Our 8400-seat multi-purpose arena, the Landers Center, hosts frequent events including concerts, rodeos, flea markets, and monster truck rallies. It is also home to the Memphis Hustle, an NBA minor league basketball team affiliated with the Memphis Grizzlies.  DeSoto also is well known for its Farmer’s Markets, fishing and camping, indoor concerts, outdoor concerts, and sports all year long.
